Circle Plaza: A Unique Blend of Work and Play

Regina Kwok's Innovative Office Space Design in Hong Kong

Scarcity of space in Hong Kong, coupled with the increasing demands of a fast-paced lifestyle, led Regina Kwok to draw inspiration from US tech company campuses. The goal was to create a workspace that seamlessly blended work and play, while still adhering to the constraints of limited space.

Unlike traditional office solutions that rely on open plans or separate rooms, Kwok leveraged the unit's 14-foot-high ceiling to create an elevated box for the office. This design choice allowed for a dedicated workspace that provided privacy and focus. At the same time, a large window overlooking the rest of the unit and the street ensured that the occupant would not feel cramped.

One corner of the unit was dedicated to a small kitchenette and additional working space, providing flexibility for the company to accommodate extra staff. In another corner, the company meeting room was strategically placed, complete with a projector and screen for presentations. The center of the unit featured a full sofa set and coffee table, serving as a visual anchor for the entire office. This setup also doubled as a home theater for the owner's family during weekends, staying true to the concept of integrating work and play.

The unique design of Circle Plaza also addressed the challenge of displaying and storing the owner's art collection. The lack of natural light in the space ensured the preservation of the artworks, while flexible track lighting enhanced the visitors' appreciation of the collection.

Circle Plaza, located in the bustling district of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, is a testament to Regina Kwok's innovative approach to office design. By breaking away from conventional solutions and embracing the concept of work-life integration, Kwok has created a space that is both functional and visually captivating.
